Project Management

You might have a great idea for a project, but translating it into successful actions on the ground can sometimes seem like a real challenge.  Making sure you’ve got the right funding, the right organisational support and the right things happening at the right times can all require skilful project management.

Walking-the-Talk can help you to:

Plan a project including establishing a programme of actions and completing funding applications

Deliver actions on the ground, on time and on budget

Evaluate the success of your project and develop your next steps

Projects

Walking-the-Talk has practical experience in planning and delivering a wide range of  projects:

Arran Access Trust: contracted to undertake a fesibility study for paths on the isle of Arran, including strategic, condition and specification surveys of the Coastal Way and upland paths, prioritisation of repairs and development of a major funding bid.

The Upper Deeside Access Trust: acted as Project Manager on a part-time basis from September 2006 to March 2008 to oversee the running of core business (3 staff and £200,000 annual budget) and led the transition of the organisation into the Cairngorms Outdoor Access Trust.

Countryside Council for Wales:  production of a programme of works and two funding bids for a large-scale river restoration project.  This work includes assembling a database of potential project actions, liaising with key stakeholders and project partners to establish a coherent project plan and completing funding applications for the finalised project.

Lochaber Forest Disctrict (Forestry Commission Scotland): developed effective signage and waymarking for the Witch's Trails mountain bike trails at Anoch Mor, by the Nevis Range Centre, for the World Mountain Biking Championships in 2007.

The National Trust for Scotland: prepared access plans at a number of properties including Brodick Country Park, Culzean Country Park,  St Kilda and Brodie Castle. The work also involved developing a “handbook” of the Access Planning process for the Trust, for use by staff and contractors at other properties.

7Stanes Project: a signs audit on behalf of the Forestry Commission Scotland. The work involved auditing existing signage at Scotland's premier mountain biking trails and developing a strategic plan for signage as part of Phase II of the EU funded 7Stanes Project.

3DeeVision Project: coordinated the latter stages of this Interreg IIIb partnership project led by Aberdeenshire Council, including organising the final conference and writing the non-technical final report. The project was a pilot of implementation of the Water Framework Directive in three sub-catchments of the River Dee, Aberdeenshire.
