About Walking-the-TalkWe are a small environmental consultancy, based in rural Aberdeenshire but with coverage across Scotland and we have worked extensively in Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.  Established in 2006, we have undertaken work for a wide range of clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

The services offered by Walking-the-Talk are based on the skills and experiences of the two business partners - Chris York and Tamsin Morris.  We also use a network of specialist sub-contractors to provide additional skills and capacity as required.

Services provided by the business include ecological assessment; the development of recreational facilities such as paths and cycleways; agri-environment and land management advice and project and plan preparation and development.  Further information on all business services and examples of past projects can be found on this website.

If you'd like to discuss your particular project with us, contact details for both business partners can be found here

Our Environmental Credentials

Walking-the-Talk aims to work in an environmentally responsible manner and we will therefore take steps to minimise our environmental footprint. This includes:

  • reduced business travel where other forms of communication are appropriate and effective;
  • use of public transport as a first choice, where safe and practicable;
  • use of a camper van to reduce business travel and resource use for overnight accommodation;
  • use of an electric car where possible (e.g. if overnight stays are not required);
  • minimal use of paper for all business needs (using recycled paper for printing);
  • a commitment to offset carbon emissions caused through business operations;
  • use of “ethical” / environmentally responsible suppliers where practicable, including energy (Ecotricity), banking and financial services, including pensions;
  • use of energy efficient equipment and responsible use of energy;
  • buying used equipment where possible and maximising the life-cycle of business tools.

Our commitment to Equality

Walking-the-Talk does not tolerate discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, accent or social background.

We ensure that our selection of sub-contractors (where required) complies with all relevant equalities and diversities legislation and we encourage our clients to operate in a similar manner with zero tolerance of discrimination.

When providing our services, we take into account equalities and diversity issues, such as ensuring meeting rooms are fully accessible where available; providing reports and leaflets in a variety of formats if required and undertaking public events at times of the day which are accessible to all.

Registered Practice

We are a Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management registered practice for 2020-21, which means we need to make our complaints policy publically available.  Obviously, we hope it's never needed, but just in case, you can find it here:
